About The Event
It is important for clinicians to understand aging, caregiving needs and types of dementia to help and support clients. Many of us have had friends and family members confront the challenges of living with dementia. Learning validation therapy is key to helping caregivers; and understanding the different types of dementia facilitates knowledge and can diminish fear. This is a 3 hour CEU training.
Objectives:
1) Participants will learn the 10 most common types of dementia
2) Participants will learn nine differences between typical aging and Alzheimer’s disease
3) Participants will learn three ways to educate and support persons with a family member or friend living with
Alzheimer’s type dementia
4) Participants will learn the role of anticipatory grief for clinicians and family members living and working with those
with dementia
5) Participants will learn validation therapy for working with persons living with Alzheimer’s dementia
